Trena H. Peckham specializes in couples and family counseling, helping individuals and families meet their goals and find joy and fulfillment through positive family functioning. Trena values the family as a fundamental unit of society that provides crucial connections for basic human health and emotional wellbeing. While honoring the difficulty in establishing an environment that nurtures loved ones in their journey through struggles and hardships, she believes everyone has innate values that provide both strength and opportunities for growth. She sees her role as that of a confidant and companion, walking her clients through their darkness where they can make sense of their lived experiences and create a more desirable reality.
A recent graduate of Capella University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy, Trena completed her practicum with the Pinnacle Schools and Elk River Treatment Program, counseling adolescents and their families in relation to substance abuse, addiction, depression, anger and anxiety. During her internship with Eagle Counseling, Trena obtained clinical experience with clients across all walks of life with emotional and behavioral issues related to premarital, marriage, divorce, parenting, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress and more. Before moving to Alabama in 2012, Trena provided relocation assistance and financial counseling to families in the U.S. Navy where she also served as an Ombudsman Program Coordinator. Trena has extensive experience with developing and delivering programs for the military, community churches, schools and various corporations to assist individuals and families in coping with life's challenges.
A highly motivated and compassionate individual, Trena utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy, individual and systemic models, as well as mindfulness practices and faith-based therapy. While completing her LMFT and LPC requirements, Trena currently works under the direct supervision of Neill Hunter, LPC, LMFT-S.
